VP/Advertising
Job Description:
The Daily Press, located in Newport News, VA, is seeking a results-oriented professional to provide strategic leadership and direction for its Advertising Department. Reporting to the President & Publisher, responsibilities will include:
- To play a leading role in the development of growth strategies for the Daily Press and it’s related businesses with direct responsibility for advertiser marketing and sales of almost $31 million per year, with a special emphasis on digital revenue growth.
- To develop, assess and manage implementation of new and strategic business opportunities.
- To develop and manage a high performance newspaper sales organization of 52 employees.
- To cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with customers, agencies and other industry leaders to create innovative, valued solutions to customer market needs.
- To partner with other Daily Press departments and various Tribune business units to achieve shared objectives.
- To effectively manage a departmental expense budget of over $3.5 million.
The successful candidate will be an experienced senior sales and advertising executive with an outstanding track record of revenue growth and success in a publishing or multimedia environment. Candidates should possess extensive experience in advertising and/or marketing; sales strategy; new product development; recruiting, organizing, mentoring and motivating a high performance sales team; client relationship building; and cross-functional management. The individual must be a proven leader with outstanding interpersonal, organizational skills and business skills.
