Manager Tax Technology

Job Description:

The Tax Department uses a significant amount of data to execute their critical day to day processes and maintain compliance with local and federal requirements. The purpose of the Tax Technology Manager position is to assist the Tax Department with their Data Management needs including the obtaining of data, handling of data through mission-critical tax systems and analysis, the output of tax reporting and filings as well as the warehousing of Tax-related data for reference and compliance purposes. This position will help improve efficiency and effectiveness of department processes by leveraging existing technology and identifying and implementing new technology as appropriate.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -

15% Serve as a liaison between the Tax, Accounting, Financial Consolidations, and Information Technology departments improving the understanding of the tax departments information technology needs. Serve as the key point person to answer questions related to current and future tax Information Technology initiatives.

15% Identify tax technology needs, including opportunities for process improvements, automation, efficiency gains, and application of tax process and technology best practices via the use of existing technology and the implementation of new technology.

15% Develop, plan, and manage Information Technology initiatives for the tax function, including all current and future technology changes, working with the THD Information Technology Department to prototype, develop, test, and implement new tax technology.

10% Develop and deliver end user training and maintain user documentation of all tax technology.

10% Identify, plan for, and direct all tax data management and warehousing needs, including record retention and disclosure requirements.

15% Ensure tax department personnel have proper access rights to THDs software applications, and ensure tax software applications and hardware is updated and configured to optimize performance of tax technology.

10% Maintain the legal entity book configurations and links between the financial systems and tax systems.

10% Assist with coaching and mentoring initiatives and the growth and learning of associates.

This position typically reports to Dir, Tax

Responsible for helping others and providing on-the-job training or guidance

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must pass the Drug Test.

Must pass the Background Check.

Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable.

EDUCATION REQUIRED -

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE – 5

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -

Certified Public Accountant and/or masters degree in accounting, tax, or technology

Well versed in financial information reporting systems such as SAP as well as tax software packages, specifically TaxStream

Experience in data management and warehousing tools, techniques, and applications

Familiarity with U.S. corporate, state, and international tax technical and compliance is a plus

Strong project management process and technology skills

Effective leadership and interpersonal skills

Strong team player who is able to interact well with associates within the Tax Department and also with associates in other departments.
