Director - Technology & Infrastructure

Job Description:

Disney ABC Television Group Cable Networks encompasses Disney Channel, Toon Disney, SOAPNet, Radio Disney, and ESPN Radio. Disney ABC Television Group manages Disney’s kids programming internationally and on multiple U.S. television platforms, including ABC Television, ABC Family, and Radio Disney and ESPN Radio throughout United States.

The Director, Technical Infrastructure will fulfill a key role in the decision making, operations and support of the infrastructure, applications and broadcast computing environments. This position will be responsible for several Infrastructure and Application Support analysts, as well as Infrastructure Support including Radio Disney/ESPN Radio support personnel.

Candidate will have large scale expertise managing a team in support of Broadcast engineering, Digital media, digital asset management, tapeless environment (a plus), Hierarchical Storage management. This would include break fix, software upgrades, and system support. The scope of this work would be for the Media Computing devices located in the Broadcast Center, as well as supporting the outsource vendor in supporting the business desktops for Radio Disney and ESPN Radio.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities:

Environment is primarily Windows. Primary hardware vendors used are HP, Netapp, and EMC

• Candidate will be responsible for three data centers and will have responsibilities for supporting a key corporate initiative. Candidate will have a strong technology background and will have made key decisions for Network Operations, Digital Media, and Broadcasting

• Manage all Disney cable stations from an Infrastructure perspective

• Manage Disney Studio Digital Asset Management systems (Jellyroll, MAM)

• Infrastructure for Radio Disney (including desktop support)

• Infrastructure support for ESPN Radio

• Responsible for Disney ABC television Group users 3000 users

• Responsible for 16 internal staff members plus contractors, 42 cities (owned and operated Radio stations)

• Responsible for broadcast network (Infrastructure and support)

• Responsible for POST production and content delivery to outside customers

• Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) 150TB + HD storage, 1PetaByte tape library

• Content delivery workflow

• Virtualization of data centers

• Power & Cooling (all aspects of running a data center)

• Disaster recovery

Vendor Management Responsibilities:

Hewlett Packard Company (HP), VMWARE, Symantec, Cisco, ACS (help desk support-outsourced), SUN Micro Systems, Network Appliance (Netapp), Riverbed, EMC, Orbital Data, Apple, Citrix, ATT, Verizon, FastSoft, Microsoft, IBM, Isilon

QUALIFICATIONS

Work Experience

Required

*Minimum 7 years management experience in Data Center, Operational and Infrastructure support (Must be hands on, extremely technical and be able to make technical decisions)

*Entertainment, Architecture, Digital Media, Broadcasting

*Expertise in infrastructure design and support

*Expertise in application support

*Experience in developing, deploying and maintaining multiple infrastructure platforms in complex environments

Preferred

Media & Entertainment – Information Technology Infrastructure & Broadcasting experience

Skills & Abilities

Required

Candidate will have hands on experience and will have worked in a large environment managing a team and supporting an infrastructure and application environment including the following disciplines:

- Data Center management

- Infrastructure Architecture & Design

- Relational Database Servers (DB2, Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL)

- Application Servers (WebSphere, WebLogic, JBoss, Tomcat)

- Web Servers (Apache, IIS)

- Operating Systems (Linux, Unix, Windows)

- Clustering (Linux, Windows)

- Languages (Java, Perl, C, PHP, VB, C#)

- Application Frameworks (J2EE, .Net)

- Expertise with Hewlett Packard products, Microsoft, EMC, Netapp

Supervisory Responsibilities

Candidate will be responsible for 16 staff members and the infrastructure support for Cable Television, Radio Disney & ESPN Radio. Six team members are located in different states. Candidate will be responsible for weekly status reports, detailed project planning, and performance management. Candidate will partner with the VP of Information Technology on strategy and implementation of business initiatives
