Director, Codec Technology Development
Job Description:
A hands-on technical position responsible for the development of software tools to create digital media content for a wide variety of platforms (i.e., broadcast, video on-demand, web). Specific Broadcast Network Codec Development Experience is required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Use current industry-standard and techniques as well as investigating future codecs and techniques to create audio and video content for multiple platforms
• Develop C, C++, Java-based tools to create a wide-variety of industry-standard media formats (i.e., Dolby E, GXF, H.264, MXF, Windows Media Player, 601 & 701 Closed Captioning).
• Investigate grid-based server architecture to create movie content in multiple media formats
REQUIREMENTS
• College degree in Engineering/Mathematics/Computer Science preferred
• Minimum 10 years software development experience with 5 years experience in software development in video entertainment industry or video software manufacturing & development
• Experience with audio and video file processing as well as transcoding process
• Knowledge of industry-standard audio and video formats as well as audio and image processing
• Experience developing software applications using industry-standard video and audio codecs
• Must have strong software development skills in C, C++, Java, XML
• Must be self-motivated with the ability and desire to analyze problems and develop solutions utilizing cutting-edge technology
• Must work well in a team environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required
• Position requires after hours support and minor travel
