Billboard and its popular music charts have evolved into the primary source of information on trends and innovation in music through its magazine serving music fans, artists, top executives, tour promoters, publishers, radio programmers, lawyers, retailers, digital entrepreneurs and many others. As Billboard’s consumer-face, Billboard.com features an extensive array of searchable, playable charts, breaking music news, artist interviews and exclusives, news, video and more. Billboard is headquartered in New York with bureaus in London, Los Angeles, and Miami, and has editorial correspondents in major cities around the globe.
We are seeking a motivated, dedicated sales professional with knowledge of the music and entertainment business. Ideal candidate should thrive on forging relationships, closing business and driving revenue. Should be creative and strategic, and work well in a team environment.
Position is responsible for covering the music and entertainment industries for print and online advertising across Billboard magazine, Billboard.com and Billboard.biz with a focus on generating and driving advertiser supported artist spotlight in-book features.
- Service existing business, generate new accounts and close deals.
- Collaborate with Billboard edit and marketing team on developing new artist spotlights.
- Out in market with face-to-face sales calls and attendance at key industry gatherings.
- Provide VP Integrated Sales with weekly sales forecasts, itineraries and progress reports.
- Maintain database and filing system for accounts (Filemaker Pro & Solbright).
Qualifications:
- Ability to sell both print and online packages
- Individual should have strong background selling to music and entertainment companies and agencies.
- Must be up-to-date on industry trends.
- Ability to network and make new contacts within the industry is essential to success in this job.
- Must have excellent verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Must also have ability to turn around problem accounts and close new business.
Experience/Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in print sales with experience selling to the music and entertainment industries.
